RECENT NEWS!!!

Oh 7/18/09 I was seriously injured while riding my bicycle when hit by a car making an illegal left turn. I was traveling at 29 miles per hour upon impact, and I was thrown a good 30 feet over the hood of the car and down the street. I broke two ribs and my clavicle, and damaged my shoulder; I also had massive hematomas, bruising, and some road rash. My $230 helmet did its job. The driver's insurance company stepped right up, and has paid all damages to date.
Sadly, we lost my beloved Katie on 4/22/09 to bone and lung cancer. As you all know, she was my girl - the best dog I've ever been privileged to share my life with; and my backpacking and hiking companion. I rescued her from the shelter when she was two-years-old, and she bonded with me at once - we became instant companions for life. I will always miss her.
By far the biggest news to date is that Hong and I were married on April 7, 2008. The civil ceremony took place in San Francisco; we plan on a more formal ceremony in Hanoi, Vietnam for early in 2009. This link will take you to our Wedding Page.

And Hong also received her Permanent U.S. Residency in January 2009. She is very excited about that. We will now work to get her daughter, Hang approved, as well.
I AM FINALLY A GRANDFATHER!!!!!!!
Please welcome Patricia Zoe Myers, daughter of my son Marc and his fiancee, Bianca. Patricia Zoe Myers was born at 2:52 AM on Tuesday, November 25, 2008. She measured 30.5" in length and weighed a little under 7 pounds. Bianca and Patricia Zoe are doing wonderfully.

On June 8, 2007, the puppies and I hopped in the motor home, and set out on a 4,200 mile, 14 day trip to Mississippi. We visited Bogart's birthplace - Rivrvue Kennels, and saw his mother, Addi, along with 12 other Bouviers. Bogart got to romp with his brother, Charlie, who looks just like him. I rode the Solvang Century Bike Ride on 3/11/06, a hundred mile bicycle ride under some pretty tough circumstances (terrible weather) To read about it and see photos, click on link. Solvang Century I then rode in the Solvang Prelude - 50 mile ride on 11/4/06, and was the fifth finisher overall, out of a couple of thousand riders. There's a fun story behind my amazing finishing position. Click here to read all about it. Finally, in October 2008 I rode the 100-mile Tour de St. George, which was a strenuous Century with more than 6,000' of elevation gain. I ride my best time ever for 100 miles.
